5 Electronic Logging Devices Revoked by FMCSA

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s FMCSA announced on February 28th, 2024 the removal of five Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) from its registered list. Two of TT ELD, KSK and 2 more devices were revoked.

FMCSA Renews Warning-Flag Exemption

FMCSA is renewing an exemption requested jointly by the Automobile Carriers Conference (ACC) of the American Trucking Associations and the Auto Haulers Association of America (AHAA).
This will relieve motor carriers operating stinger-steered car-haul equipment from the requirement to place warning flags on projecting loads of new and used motor vehicles.
This renewed exemption is effective February 15, 2024, through August 9, 2024, unless revoked earlier.

Truck Heist in LA – $4M Worth of Lemme Products Stolen

A truck loaded with about $4 million worth of Lemme Burn products, associated with famous influencer Kourtney Kardashian’s brand, was stolen from a warehouse in the San Fernando Valley, California.
The person or the group behind the heist allegedly hacked into the security system of the warehouse, sources told TMZ, after which they gained physical access with fake credentials and identification. This allowed them to drive off the crime scene with no resistance. A ransom note was digitally sent by the robbers asking for payment in exchange for the stolen goods, according to the same source.

BNSF Railway Agreed to Pay $75M for a Truck Driver Class Action

BNSF, a major freight rail company, has settled for $75 million, a decrease from the initial $228M. In a lawsuit alleging it broke Illinois state law by improperly collecting biometric data like fingerprints and eye scans from 46,500 truck drivers. Each class member will receive approximately $1000.
This settlement was revealed in a recent court filing in Chicago, marking a significant outcome from the first trial under Illinois’s strict Biometric Information Privacy Act. BNSF, part of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway portfolio, is recognized as one of the largest freight rail networks in the United States.
